Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) is the immediate treatment of a person who has had a high risk of exposure to HIV with a 28 day course of HIV antiretroviral therapy (ART) medications.
For treatment to be effective PEP should be started as soon as possible and no longer than 72 hours following exposure risk.
If you need general information or advice on PEP, including how to access PEP, Call the NSW PEP Hotline on 1800 737 669.
